Leatherstocking Hand-Split Billet Co. has been part of the international timber market since 1994 and has been providing high quality hand-split bat blanks to premium bat makers since 2008. From timber selection to product processing, we have worked through the years to master the craft of hand-splitting wood while streamlining our operations to be able to provide the highest quality bat blanks on the market, including Hard Maple, White Ash, Birch and Soft Maple.

The Leatherstocking Region

Leatherstocking Hand-Split Billet Co. is located in the Central Region of New York State known as the Leatherstocking Region.  The area was made famous by the works of James Fenimore Cooper, the son of William Cooper, the founding father of Cooperstown, NY. James Fenimore Cooper authored “The Leatherstocking Tales,” a series of adventure novels which includes “The Last of the Mohicans.” Throughout these stories, the main character, Natty Bumppo was known by many other names, one of these being “Leatherstocking.”
